This International Patient Disclaimer applies to all services provided by PROVISSIÓN, including services offered through:

(collectively, “PROVISSIÓN”).
PROVISSIÓN is a private ophthalmology practice located in Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico, operated by Dr. Carlos D. Ávila Gómez.
1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
All medical services provided by PROVISSIÓN are rendered exclusively in Mexico and are governed by the laws and regulations of the United Mexican States.
By seeking consultation, treatment, or surgery with PROVISSIÓN, international patients expressly agree that:
- Mexican law governs all medical services.
- Any dispute shall be resolved under the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Cancún, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
- No foreign medical regulatory framework automatically applies to services rendered in Mexico.
2. No Guarantee of Insurance Coverage or Reimbursement
PROVISSIÓN does not guarantee:
- Insurance reimbursement
- Cross-border healthcare coverage
- Recognition of treatment under foreign health systems
- Eligibility under Medicare, Medicaid, NHS, or any other public or private health system
Patients are solely responsible for verifying coverage with their insurance providers prior to receiving treatment.
All financial responsibility remains with the patient unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3. Medical Evaluation and Individual Results
All medical information published on PROVISSIÓN’s websites is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a medical diagnosis.
Treatment eligibility, including LASIK or other surgical procedures, requires in-person clinical evaluation.
Medical outcomes vary by individual. PROVISSIÓN does not guarantee specific results, visual acuity outcomes, or recovery timelines.
4. Travel and Post-Treatment Responsibilities
International patients acknowledge and accept that:
- They are responsible for all travel, lodging, and related arrangements.
- They must comply with recommended post-operative instructions.
- They may require follow-up care either in Mexico or in their home country.
PROVISSIÓN is not responsible for:
- Travel interruptions
- Immigration or visa issues
- Airline or accommodation changes
- Complications arising after departure from Mexico when follow-up care is not attended as recommended
Patients are strongly advised to maintain travel insurance and understand medical travel risks before proceeding.
5. Continuity of Care in Home Country
Patients acknowledge that:
- Their local physician may not be affiliated with PROVISSIÓN.
- Cross-border continuity of care may require coordination initiated by the patient.
- Release of medical records requires written authorization.
PROVISSIÓN will reasonably cooperate with records requests in accordance with applicable Mexican law and its Privacy Policy.
6. Communication and Language
All services are available in Spanish and English.
If additional language services are requested in advance, secure video-based interpretation services may be arranged through a third-party provider, subject to availability.
Patients acknowledge that medical interpretation services are facilitative in nature and that they remain responsible for understanding the risks, benefits, and alternatives of any procedure.
7. Payment Terms
All services must be paid in accordance with the clinic’s policies.
Currency exchange fluctuations, international transaction fees, and cross-border banking charges are the sole responsibility of the patient.
Deposits, cancellations, and rescheduling are governed by the applicable Cancellation Policy.
8. Informed Consent
Prior to any procedure, patients will receive appropriate informed consent documentation in Spanish and/or English.
By signing informed consent forms, patients acknowledge that:
- They understand the nature of the procedure.
- They have had the opportunity to ask questions.
- They accept known and inherent medical risks.
- They voluntarily elect to proceed with treatment in Mexico.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Mexican law:
- PROVISSIÓN shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, travel-related, or consequential damages arising from international medical travel.
- Liability, if any, shall be governed exclusively by applicable Mexican law.
Nothing in this disclaimer limits rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
10. Acceptance
By scheduling an appointment, submitting a consultation form, or receiving services from PROVISSIÓN, the patient acknowledges having read, understood, and accepted this International Patient Disclaimer.
